To Create a General Bolt Preload
1. Click Home > Preload.
The Preload dialog box opens.
2. Type a name for the load, or use the default name.
3. Select an existing load set from the Member of Set area or click New to create a new load set.

You can create only one preload per volume per load set.
4. Select General as the solid type from the drop-down list:
5. Select a linear edge, curve, axis or surface to define a direction for the preload. Direction is defined along the selected linear edge, curve, axis, or normal to the selected planar surface.
6. Type a positive real value in the Cross-sectional Area text box. Select a unit for the area of the selected component from the adjacent drop-down list or use the default unit.
7. Type a positive real value in the Length box. Select a unit for the length of the selected component from the adjacent drop-down list or use the default unit.
8. Select a volume region, or an entire component to which you want to apply the load using the References list. You can select volume regions or components even before opening the dialog box. Such selections are appear in the References collector when the dialog box opens.
9. Type a real number value in the Preload box. Select a unit for preload from the adjacent drop-down list or use the default unit.
10. Click OK.
