Combine Spatial and Temporal Functions
Select the Combine Spatial and Temporal Functions check box in the Heat Load dialog box to combine spatial and temporal functions.
The
Combine Spatial and Temporal Functions check box is available only when you set
Spatial Variation to
Function of Coordinates or
Function of Arc Length and
Temporal Variation to
Function of Time. When you select this check box, the
Combined Variation area appears with the
button and a selection list. Click
to open the
Functions dialog box .
You can create only symbolic functions with the following independent spatial and temporal variables:
• X, Y, Z, and time—Available when you select Function of Coordinates from the Spatial Variation list. X, Y, Z are the spatial variables that change depending on the selected coordinate system.
• S and time—Available when you select Function of Arc Length from the Spatial Variation list. S is the arc length of the edge or curve.
| A combination of Function of Arc Length and Function of Time is available only for heat loads applied to a single edge or curve. |
| A load set with only transient heat loads cannot be a part of a steady state thermal analysis. If a load set contains both steady as well as transient heat loads, transient heat loads are ignored. |
