About the Dampers User Interface
The
Damper tab user interface consists of tabs, commands, and shortcut menus. A damper is represented by

on the Mechanism Tree. Click
Dampers to create or edit a damper. Click a tab to review the properties of an existing damper.
Commands
• Movement Type

Translation—Sets the damper type to extension or compression.
◦
Rotation—Sets the damper type to torsion.
• References—Collects the damper references.
• Damping Coefficient
◦ C—Sets the damping coefficient. Select the units from the list.
| You can enter a value for the damping coefficient or select a value from the list of most recently used values. The selected value appears in the adjacent box. |
Tabs
• References open by default—Displays the damper placement references.
• Properties—Displays the damper name. Click

to open feature information in the browser.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click a damper in the Mechanism Tree or in the graphics window to access these feature-specific commands:
• Clear—Clears the reference collector.
• Extension/Compression—Sets the damper type to extension or compression.
• Torsion—Sets the damper type to torsion.
