About the Edge Rip User Interface
The Edge Rip user interface consists of commands, tabs, and shortcut menus. To access the Edge Rip tool, click Sheetmetal > Rip > Edge Rip.
Use the configuration option smt_drive_tools_by_parameters to control the default values and behavior of selected tool settings. Set the configuration option to yes to automatically update features when parameter values change. In the following descriptions, [<Parameter Value>] indicates that tool settings are controlled by parameters.
Commands
The Edge Rip tab contains the Rip type list:
Open—Creates an open rip.
Blind—Creates a rip using two dimensions.
Gap—Creates a rip at the wall intersection using a single dimension based on the value of the wall thickness or according to the SMT_GAP parameter.
Overlap—Overlaps the walls and creates a rip at the wall intersection.
[<Parameter Value>]—Creates a rip whose type is controlled by the SMT_DFLT_EDGE_TREA_TYPE parameter.
Tabs
Placement
Use this tab to select edge rip references.
Edge Rip Sets—Displays any defined sets of edge rips. Click New Set to define a new set of edge rips.
Set References—Displays selected edges or chain of edge references in the collector. Details—Opens the Chain dialog box that displays the selected edge references.
Seam type—Lists the types of seam to apply to the selected set of rips:
Open—Creates an open rip at the wall intersection.
Blind—Creates a rip using two dimensions.
Gap—Creates a rip at the wall intersection using a single dimension.
Overlap—Overlaps the walls and creates a rip at the wall intersection.
Flip—Reverses the wall overlap direction.
Add Gap—Adds a space between the overlap by a specified value.
[<Parameter Value>]—Creates a rip whose type is controlled by the SMT_DFLT_EDGE_TREA_TYPE parameter.

You can set the seam type and any required dimensions for Gap, Blind, and Overlap in the Seam area of the Preferences dialog box or in the Parameters dialog box.
Properties
Displays detailed feature information.
Name—Shows a feature name.
—Shows feature information in a browser.
Shortcut Menu
Right-click the graphics window to access the shortcut commands:
Clear—Removes the reference from the active collector.
Add Edge Rip—Adds a new set of edge rips.
Flip—Reverses the wall overlap direction, when Overlap is selected.
Seam types to apply to the selected set of rips:
Open—Creates an open rip.
Blind—Creates a rip using two dimensions.
Gap—Creates a rip using a single dimension.
Overlap—Overlaps the walls and creates a rip at the wall intersection.
