To Set the Snapping Settings
You can change the snapping settings in one of the following ways:
Right-click in the sketch window to open the Sketcher shortcut menu, and then select Snapping Settings.
In the Sketcher Setup menu, click Setup > Snapping Settings.
In the Creo Parametric Options dialog box, click File > Options > Sketcher.
You can configure the following snapping settings in Sketcher:
Snap to Grid—Snap sketcher entities to the grid.
Snap to Model Geometry—Snap to model geometry you place the pointer directly over a reference.
Instant Snapping to Model Geometry—Snap instantly to model geometry by hovering directly over it or moving the pointer close to it. Instant snapping is only available when snapping to model geometry is enabled.
*
In standalone Sketcher, you can only set the Snap to Grid setting.
Instant Snapping
When you are working on a model, the sketch point snaps to the model geometry, such as edges, surfaces, and curves. By default, snapping to model geometry is instant. Using Sketcher tools in a large design when instant snapping is on can affect performance.
When instant snapping is turned off, you must hover over the model geometry before you can snap to it. This limits the available references that you can snap to when moving the pointer, which improves performance.
