Sketcher > Setting Sketcher Environment > To Customize the Sketcher Environment
To Customize the Sketcher Environment
1. Click File > Options > Sketcher. The Sketcher area of the Creo Parametric Options dialog box opens.
2. To toggle Object display settings, select or clear these check boxes:
Show vertices—Vertices and endpoints. This option affects Layout too.
Show constraints—Constraints.
Show dimensions—All dimensions.
Show weak dimensions—Weak dimensions.
Show entity ID number on help text—Entity IDs.
3. To toggle Sketcher constraints assumptions, select or clear one or more of the constraint check boxes.
4. To change the number of decimal places displayed for dimensions and the sensitivity of the snapping to geometry, perform these actions:
Type a new value or use the arrows to change the value in the Number of decimal places for dimensions box.
Select a new value from the Snapping sensitivity box.
5. Define the Dimensions settings:
To enable or disable auto scale functionality, select or clear the Auto scale weak linear dimensions for the first sketch in the model check box. When selected, the first sketch in the model is automatically scaled in proportion to the first modified weak dimension.
To lock or unlock modified dimensions while dragging a section, select or clear the Lock modified dimensions check box. When selected, dimensions that have been modified are locked when performing related operations.
To lock or unlock user-defined dimensions while dragging a section, select or clear the Lock user defined dimensions check box. When selected, user-defined dimensions are locked when performing related operations.
6. Define the Sketcher grid settings:
To toggle the display of the grid, select or clear the Grid display check box.
To toggle the snapping to the grid, select or clear the Snap to grid check box.
To change the Grid angle, type a new value in the box.
To change the Grid type, select Cartesian or Polar.
To change the Grid spacing type, select one of these types:
Dynamic—Automatically adjusts the grid spacing according to the zoom factor.
Static—Manually adjusts the grid spacing and angle. Use this option before you create geometry to control the approximate size of the section.
An additional option is available for a Cartesian grid:
To change the spacing along the X-axis and Y-axis for a grid set to Static, type a new value in each of the boxes.
Additional options are available for a polar grid:
To change the Angle between radial lines, type a new value in the box.
To change the Number of radial lines, type a new value in the box.
To change the Spacing along radial lines, for a grid set to Static, type a new value in the box. The specified value must divide evenly into 360.
7. To set the orientation of the sketching plane when entering Sketcher, select or clear the Make the sketching plane parallel to the screen check box.
8. To modify the Line thickness, type a new value in the box.
9. To toggle the Entity line style and color settings when importing sections, select or clear the Retain the original line style and color during the import of section entities check box. This setting applies to these operations:
Cutting, copying, and pasting.
Importing a shape from the Sketcher palette.
Importing a section file.
10. To toggle the Sketcher references settings, select or clear these check boxes:
Automatic reference creation from selected background geometry—Enables you to create references automatically when using a sketch tool.
Allow snapping to model geometry—Enables snapping to model geometry.
Instant snapping to model geometry—Enables instant snapping to model geometry. This option is only available when Allow snapping to model geometry is selected.
11. To toggle the Sketcher diagnostics settings, select or clear these check boxes:
Highlight overlapping geometry—Highlights entities that overlap with one another.
Highlight intersecting geometry—Highlights entities that intersect with one another.
Highlight geometry junctions—Highlights junctions, which occur when two or more entities pass through a single vertex.
Highlight open ends—Highlights endpoints that do not coincide with other endpoints or entities.
Shade closed loops—Fills closed loops with a predefined color.
12. To toggle the Sketcher import settings, select or clear the Convert dimension units of imported files to the model units check box.
When selected, dimension units are converted; for example, 1 inch is converted to 25.4 millimeters.
When cleared, dimension units are interpreted; for example, 1 inch is interpreted as 1 millimeter.
13. Click OK. The Creo Parametric Options dialog box opens. Perform one of these tasks:
Click No to apply the new settings only to the current session.
Click Yes to apply the new settings to the current session and to save the settings to a config.pro file.
*
To return to the default Sketcher settings, click Restore Defaults.
You can also control these settings using Sketcher configuration options.
