Accessing Datum Points
Use a Datum Point Tool
• Click Model, click the arrow next to Point, and click 
Point to create a general point.

You can create datum points using Sketcher. If you create a geometry point in a sketch feature, when you return to the modeling environment, that point is now a datum point.
