To Split a Follow Cut
You can split a follow cut in the following turning sequences:
Area
Profile
Groove
1. Edit the required Area, Profile, or Groove turning sequence.
2. On the Area Turning tab, or Profile Turning tab, or Groove Turning tab, click Tool Motions.
3. Select the follow cut that you want to split in the tool motions list.
4. Right-click and select Split.
The Splitting Points dialog box for the selected follow cut opens.
5. Select the type of input for the offset:
Ratio—Define the offset with respect to the length of the motion.
Define the ratio values between 0 and 1, excluding 0 and 1. The 0 value represents no offset, and the 1 value represents the selection of splitting point on the other end of the motion.
Real—Define the offset with respect to the distance from the start of the motion.
Define the real values between 0 and the length of the motion, excluding 0 and length of the motion.
6. Select a location on the follow cut for creating a splitting point by specifying the offset value, or drag the dragger to adjust the offset value.
The default value for Offset is 0.
*
To use the other end of the motion as the offset reference, click .
7. Click New Point.
The splitting point gets listed in the splitting points list as SPNTID, where ID is the serial ID of the splitting point. The first splitting point in the list starts with ID 0. Subsequent splitting points contain ID in the ascending order.
If you click New Point before selecting a location on the follow cut, an error message appears.
8. Define the splitting points as per requirement.
*
If you define one splitting point, the existing follow cut splits into two follow cuts. If you define multiple splitting points, the existing follow cut splits into multiple follow cuts.
To delete splitting points from the splitting points list, select the splitting points, and then select Delete from the shortcut menu.
9. Click OK.
The existing follow cut splits into multiple follow cuts using the defined splitting points. The split follow cuts are also listed in the tool motions list.
*
You can redefine the created follow cuts by using the Edit Definition command on the shortcut menu, if required.
