The Thread Set Dialog Box
The Thread Set dialog box contains options for thread placement. It contains the following tabs:
Holes
Depth
Options
Holes
Using the Holes tab, you can define thread sets by rules and set the order of machining for multiple threads as follows:
Rule-based Axes—Select the datum axes that belong to the holes or cylindrical protrusions where you want to place the threads. Placing threads by the following methods implies specifying a rule for the placement surface selection. For example, if you cut an internal thread and specify a diameter value, the system will search the model for the holes of this diameter. If you select a surface, the system will include all holes on this surface. If you specify a combination of rules, the system will look for holes that satisfy all of them; that is, if you specify a diameter value and select a surface, the system will include only the holes of the specified diameter that are located on the selected surface. The Rule-based Axes method lets you explicitly select and unselect datum axes, regardless of other rules used in thread placement.
Methods for thread placement follow:
Rule: diameters—Place threads on all the cylindrical surfaces (Internal or External) of a specified diameter.
For internal threads holes are listed and for external threads the diameters of cylindrical bosses are listed.

Diameter selection of holes is not applicable to tapered holes.
Rule: surfaces—Place threads on all the holes or cylindrical bosses on a specified surface.
Rule: parameters—Place threads on hole features that have certain parameter values. When you select this method, a list of all feature parameters associated with Hole and Cosmetic Thread features in the model are displayed in the list box. When you select a parameter name in the list, the text box below will contain a drop-down list of all the currently present values for this parameter. Select an operator (such as "=") and a value. The system displays the selected parameter and its value in the list box below and selects all features with the appropriate parameter value.
Rule: threads—Machine threads for selected thread sizes.
If the selection method is Rule: diameters or Rule: threads, all the selected references of the appropriate type (for example, diameters or datum axes) are added to the Available list. To apply the placement rule, select the required references in the Available list and click to add to the Selected list.
Patterned Axes—If you place threads by Rule-based Axes, selecting Patterned Axes and then selecting an axis belonging to a pattern of features, will place threads on all the features in the pattern.
Individual Axes—Select individual axes to add to the thread set.
Excluded Axes—Select axes to exclude from the thread set.
Alternatively, select Hole Diameters, Holes on Surfaces, Threads, Pattern of Axes, Individual Axes, or Excluded Axes from the shortcut menu in the graphics window.
Depth
The Depth tab contains the following options to set the initial and final depth of the thread.
Select the following options from the Start list:
—The system automatically determines the initial thread depth based on its placement references, and taking into consideration the tool parameters INSERT_LENGHT and END_OFFSET.
—Specify the start surface for the initial thread depth.
Select the following options from the End list:
—The system automatically determines the final thread depth based on its placement references.
—Specify the end surface for the final thread depth
—Enter the final thread depth.
Options
The Options tab contains the following options:
All Models—Selection of this check box enables all models in the assembly to be considered for thread placement.
Models—Enables selection of individual assembly models for thread placement.
Start hole—The system determines which order results in the shortest machine motion time. You can click theStart hole and select the first hole or boss to start thread cutting and placement.
To preview the selected hole axes, click in the upper part of the Thread Set dialog box.
