The Axis Control Tab (Trajectory Milling)
When defining a cut in 4 or 5–axis Trajectory milling sequence, you can control the orientation of the tool using options on the Axis Control tab.
1. When creating or editing a 4 or 5-axis Trajectory milling sequence, click Tool Motions on the Trajectory tab.
2. Select Curve Cut or Drive Surface Cut from the Tool Motions list. Depending on your selection the Curve Cut dialog box or the Drive Surface Cut dialog box opens.
3. Select the Axis Control tab on the Curve Cut or Drive Surface Cut dialog box.
4. The following axis Control Type options are available for curve cut:
3 Axis—The tool axis is parallel to the Z-axis of the NC Sequence coordinate system.
Pivot about a Point/Axis—Select either a pivot point or a pivot axis that the tool passes through while machining the surfaces.
At a Location—Select a series of locations on the model to associate the tool axis definitions with these locations.
Pivot about a Curve—Select a pivot curve that the tool passes through while machining the surfaces.
Normal to a Surface—Select one or more surfaces to which the cutter is normal to when creating the curve cut.
5. The following axis control options are available for a drive surface cut:
From Drive Surface—Select a single drive surface or multiple drive surfaces to set the tool orientation. You can use drive surface to modify tool axis definitions on an edge but not with a point.
At a Location—Select a series of locations on the model to associate the tool axis definitions with these locations.

The Lead Angle and Tilt Angle options are not available for 4-axis steps.
