Milling Parameters Specific to Rest Finishing
In addition to the common milling parameters, the following parameters control the tool path generated by a Rest Finishing NC sequence:
CORN_ANG_LIMIT
This is the angle used to determine whether shallow sections at corners must be joined if the CORN_CONN_TYPE parameter is set to XY Plane or 3D.
CORN_CONN_TYPE
Indicates the type of linking movements used to join shallow sections of passes at corners where fillets join. This parameter has the following values:
None—Passes are not connected at corners so the corners may not be cleared of rest material.
XY Plane—Passes are connected at corners if the angle between them is less than the corner angle limit when viewed in the XY plane.
3D—Passes are connected at corners if the angle between them is less than the corner angle limit in 3D space.
SPIRAL_CONN_TYPE
Indicates the type of linking moves to be used to connect the ends of shallow sections of passes so that the passes are machined from outermost to innermost in a spiral. This parameter has the following values:
none
—No spiral connections are created.
surface
—Spiral connections are made and lie on the surface.
Off Surface
—Spiral connections are made and are lifted off the surface.
STEEP_REGION_CUT_TYPE
This parameter has the following values:
CLIMB—.The passes are linked so that they go in a one-way direction.
UPCUT—The passes are broken into pieces such that each piece is machined in a upward direction.
ZIG_ZAG—Each pass is machined in the opposite direction to the previous pass alternating between climb and conventional milling styles, with a short linking motion connecting the two ends.
STEEP_TO_FLAT_ANGLE
If the angle between the fillet center line and the horizontal plane is less than this parameter, then the corresponding area for rest finishing is shallow, otherwise it is steep.
