Example: Round Milling
The figures below topic illustrate the toolpath in a round milling sequence when the following parameters are set and when they are not set:
NUMBER_FIRST_FINCUTS
NUMBER_LAST_FINCUTS
FIRST_FINCUT_OFFSET
LAST_FINCUT_OFFSET
Figure 1 Toolpath With No Material Left
In this figure, the parameters are set as follows:
NUMBER_FIRST_FINCUTS 0
NUMBER_LAST_FINCUTS 1
FIRST_FINCUT_OFFSET 0
LAST_FINCUT_OFFSET 0
The tool makes just one final last cut. As no offsets are set, there is no material left after the round milling toolpath is completed.
Figure 2 Toolpath With Material Left
In this figure, the parameters are set as follows:
NUMBER_FIRST_FINCUTS 2
NUMBER_LAST_FINCUTS 2
FIRST_FINCUT_OFFSET 0.3
LAST_FINCUT_OFFSET 0.5
The tool makes two first cuts ( 1 and 2) and two last cuts (3 and 4) with the offset values provided. The red arrow indicates the material left after the round milling toolpath is completed.
