Modifying a Hatching Pattern
You can create and modify PAT hatching pattern, for solid models using the Hatch Designer tool. To open the Hatch Designer, click Tools > Hatch Designer.
You can perform the following operations with Hatch Designer:
—Create a new pattern. The new pattern is a single patterned solid line with default characteristics and has the scale value 1.
—Retrieve an existing pattern from an existing PAT file or XCH file.
—Create a new version of an existing pattern and add it to the PAT library.
—Save the edited hatch pattern in its original PAT file by overriding previous values.
—Scale up by doubling the size of the pattern.
—Scale down by reducing the size of the pattern by half.
—Select a new color from the palette for the hatch pattern.
—Add a new line to the hatch pattern.
—Remove the selected line from the hatch pattern.
—Select the next line when a pattern contains more than one patterned lines.
—Edit the next line.
Library Fonts—Change the font of the selected line.
Angle—Change the angle of the hatch lines in the selected pattern. When creating a new pattern, the default value is set to 45º.
X-Origin—Shift a patterned line in the horizontal direction.
Y-Origin—Shift a patterned line in the vertical direction.
Delta-X—Indicates the displacement between dashed lines. This option is not applicable for any other patterned line.
Delta-Y—Set the spacing between lines within the same pattern of lines. When creating a new pattern, the default value is 1.
You can define the font of the line using the dash input fields available. Up to six dashes can be defined. A positive value defines the solid segment of the line. A negative value defines the spacing between the line segments. Zero for dot represents a dot. Consequent positive values result in a continuous line. Consequent negative values result in continuous space, and consequent dots result in adjacent dots.

The Hatch designer converts the XCH pattern to a PAT pattern. When saving the modified pattern file and retaining the original XCH pattern name, the file name appears twice in the edit hatching UI when both PAT and XCH files are present in the patterns folder.
