To Analyze the Deviation of a B-rep Surface to a Facet
Deviation analysis between a B-rep (boundary representation) surface and a facet, estimates how closely the boundary representation surface is aligned with the faceted geometry.

Deviation analysis is mostly beneficial after you reconstruct facets into B-rep surfaces in Freestyle and Generative Design applications. It computes the deviation between the selected faceted geometry and the reconstructed B-rep surface.
Deviation analysis is an iterative process. After modifying the reconstructed shape, it helps you determine how suitable the surface model is for further design or production.
Use the following procedure after you reconstruct a faceted geometry into a B-rep surface:
1. Click Analysis > Inspect Geometry > Deviation. The Deviation Analysis dialog box opens. Quick is the default analysis type. The Analysis tab is selected by default.
2. Click in the From collector and select a facet or a hybrid body, or select a generative design feature from the Model Tree.

To clearly view the boundary representation and mixed representation, do the following:
a. Click View > Show > Geometry Display Filters .
b. Select the Boundary (B-rep) or Mixed check boxes.
You can also set the display of the Geometry Display Filters command by selecting or clearing the check box of the command in the graphics toolbar.
3. In the Threshold box, specify the threshold value or adjust the thumbwheel to change the value.
4. Click in the To collector and select surface, body, or a quilt to which you want to measure the deviation. The Color Scale dialog box appears.
In the Deviation Analysis dialog box, the minimum and maximum deviation is computed and displayed in the result area. In the Color Scale dialog box, the minimum and maximum deviation values appear on a color scale.
5. In the Color Scale dialog box, click to view the color scale options. The Color Scale dialog box expands.

If required, click to restore the default values of the color scheme.
6. Click or to switch between the continuous and non-continuous color display.
Note the following points about the color plot:
If you modify the angle specified in the Deviation Analysis box, the minimum and maximum values are updated automatically.
Geometry areas outside the maximum values are displayed in the color shown in the swatch for the maximum color gradation.
Geometry areas outside the minimum values are displayed in the color shown in the swatch for the minimum color gradation.
Geometry areas having zero values are included in the verticals range and are displayed in color shown in the swatch for middle color. White is the default middle color.
You can customize the maximum(), minimum (), and middle () colors using the Color Editor that opens when you click on the color swatches.
7. Click in the Color Scale dialog box to save the color scheme settings to a .txt file. Clicking opens the Save Color Scheme dialog box with color_scheme as the default filename in the File Name box. If required, specify a new name and click OK. By default the file is saved to the working directory.
8. Optionally, to save the analysis feature, perform the following steps:
a. At the bottom of the Deviation analysis dialog box, select the Saved analysis type.

The Saved type of analysis is used to dynamically update the analysis while modeling.
b. Optionally, in the box adjacent to the list, rename the analysis.
9. Optionally, to create an advanced analysis feature, perform the following steps:
a. At the bottom of the Deviation analysis dialog box, select the Feature option.
b. Optionally, in the box adjacent to the list, rename the analysis.
c. Click the Feature tab to create or change feature options of the current analysis, if required. You can access the feature options only when you select a Feature type of analysis.
10. Update is selected by default. You can see the effects of your selections or changes on the analysis plot as you make them. Clear the Update check box to select or adjust multiple analysis options, and then click Preview to view the result of analysis.

To load a color scheme click and browse to the.txt file that contains the color scheme settings.
11. Click OK to complete the analysis, Cancel to cancel the analysis, or click Repeat to start a new analysis.
