To Create a Flat Segment
1. Click > . The Flat tab opens.
2. Select one or more attachment edges. The selected edges are displayed in the Placement collector.
A rectangular segment is created by default. To choose a different segment shape, select one from the Shape list.
3. To select a different shape, under Shape click the arrow and select a shape from the list.
4. Click Shape. The Shape tab opens. Edit the segment dimensions using one of the following actions:
◦ Modifying the default rectangular segment dimensions:
▪ Drag the handles to set the dimensions.
▪ Click a dimension and edit the value.
◦ Creating a sketched segment:
▪ To select a profile file for the segment, click Open.
▪ To create a profile or edit the segment dimensions using the Sketcher window, click Sketch When more than one edge was selected, you are prompted to convert the feature section to a 2D sketch.
▪ To save the profile you created, click Save As.
▪ To convert a feature section to a 2D sketch, click Convert.
◦ Set the option for attaching the shape.
5. Click
Thickness Side to flip the thickness from one side of the sketch plane to the other.
6. Click
Radius to add a bend on the attachment edges. Select a thickness value from the list, and then select one of the options to apply a method for dimensioning the bend:
◦ Click
to dimension the radius from the outside surface of the segment.
◦ Click
to dimension the radius from the inside surface of the segment.
◦ Click
to dimension the radius according to the location controlled by the
BOARD_RADIUS_SIDE parameter.
7. Set a bend angle for the attachment segments by using one of the following actions:
◦ Click the Angle list
and select a bend angle value for the attachment segments.
Alternatively, you can type a value in the Angle box.
◦ Drag the handles to adjust the angle.
◦ Double-click an angle value and type a new one.
8. Click
to flip the angle direction to the other side of the attachment segment.
9. Click Bend Position and select one of the five types.
If you select
Offset from Bend Start or
Offset from Bend Apex, then type a value for the offset.
10. To change the default rip relief, click Relief. The Relief tab opens.
◦ To define the same relief for both sides, make sure the Define each side separately check box is cleared and select a relief type to apply from the list.
For Rectangular and Obround reliefs, type values for depth and thickness.
◦ To define the relief differently for each side, perform the following tasks:
a. Select the Define each side separately check box.
b. Click Side 1 or Side 2.
c. Select a relief type to apply from the list
For Rectangular and Obround reliefs, type values for depth, length, and width.
d. Set relief for the other side.
