About Checking the TIM Status and the Out-of-Date Status
You must check the status of the Translated Image Models (TIMs) created from non-native CAD models, such as CATIA V5, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, SolidWorks, and NX, before you update and commit them to the Windchill servers. You cannot update the model without this verification that detects the out-of-date source or TIM models.
You can use the Model > Operations > ATB > Check Status command of the Creo application to check whether a TIM or a derived CAD document is up-to-date with the source model or the source CAD document. If you set the atb_auto_check_on_retrieve configuration option to on, the status of the TIMs is automatically verified whether out-of-date or up-to-date with the source CAD models when you open the TIMs in the Creo application from your workspace or the commonspace.
If the TIM is located in the workspace, Windchill checks the status of the TIM and maintains its status in the local cache. This status depends on the iteration of the source CAD document in the workspace. If the source CAD document exists in the workspace and the Windchill server is offline, Check Status verifies if the TIM is updated in the session of the Creo application. The Windchill server provides the status of the TIM when the source CAD document does not exist in the workspace and the server is online. If the source CAD document is not in the workspace, the comparison is with the non-native CAD document in the commonspace.

The up-to-date status is not accurate when you modify the source and the derived CAD documents in the same workspace
The workspace part and the document configuration specifications determine the out-of-date status of the TIM in the following manner:
A TIM is out-of-date with its source model when the iteration of the source CAD model is recent than the one with which the TIM was last updated.
The association between a TIM and the source CAD model breaks when the iteration of the source CAD model is older than the one with which the TIM was last updated. You cannot establish the association between the TIM and the source CAD model.
A mirrored component is out-of-date when one of its two source models is more recent than that used for the last update.
If you check out the derived CAD document or the TIM when the source CAD document is not in the workspace, the new iteration of the TIM created at checkout is up-to-date with the source CAD model. The Windchill server maintains the up-to-date status of the TIM.
If you directly or indirectly add a source CAD model to the workspace, the out-of-date status of the TIM is compared against the iteration of the source CAD model added to the workspace. If the iteration of the TIM in the workspace is out-of-date with the source CAD model, you must update the ATB status of the TIM.
