About Changing the Target Cache Limit
All servers are allocated a default cache limit of 0 GB. Use the dm_cache_limit or dm_cache_size configuration option to set the maximum or minimum limit of the target cache. The values for both these options must be in megabytes.
*
You can set the dm_cache_limit configuration option if you are working on Wildfire 3.0 release of Pro/ENGINEER and have registered Windchill 8.0 server.
You can use the dm_cache_size configuration option if you are working on a release prior to Wildfire 3.0 and have registered Windchill 7.0 server.
If you have registered both Windchill 7.0 and Windchill 8.0 servers in the same session while working on Wildfire 3.0, you should set both the configuration options. Based on the active server, one of the set configuration options is used.
You can also set the cache limit to 0. This disables the cache management functionality and the entire available physical memory is allocated as the cache limit.
If you perform an operation that tries to add more objects to the cache, but the total cache size used exceeds the limit that you have set, a message appears in the following locations:
Server Manager dialog box—The current cache size is displayed in bold and in red if you reach or exceed the cache limit.
Creo message area—A warning message appears that the cache size has exceeded the target limit. Please contact Administrator.
Event Manager—Whenever you connect to a server a warning message appears that the cache size has exceeded the target limit. Please contact Administrator.
