Data exchange between Creo applications and CATIA V5 also includes the bi-directional exchange of model-level parameters and attributes. When you export models and components to CATIA V5, the parameters of the models are propagated to the CATPart and CATProduct models as attributes and their values. You can only export the file-based attributes of the models to CATIA V5. Similarly, when you import CATIA V5 models, the attributes of the CATIA V5 models are propagated to the imported models. All the imported attributes map to the corresponding model and component parameters of the imported models.

You can choose to export only the designated parameters of the models or their designated and undesignated parameters. To export the designated parameters of parts and assemblies to CATIA V5, you can designate parameters to the models before the export and set the intf3d_out_parameters configuration option to designated. Set the intf3d_out_parameters configuration option to all to export all the model parameters to CATIA V5, irrespective of their designation. After the export, when you check in the CATPart and CATProduct models to Windchill, all the designated parameters are mapped to the corresponding attributes and their values on the server. The Details page of the CATPart and CATProduct models lists the assigned attributes and their values in the Creo browser.

The derived CAD Document is associated with the WTPart through the Contributing Image link while the WTPart is associated with the source model through the Owner link. Therefore, the derived CAD Document and the source model contribute attributes to the WTPart. However, the Details page of the WTPart displays multiple attribute values when the derived CAD Document and the source model contribute the same attributes to the WTPart. Therefore, you must set appropriate preferences on the server so that the Contributing Image and the Owner associations contribute different attributes to the WTPart instead of the same attributes. You can thus avoid the display of multiple attributes by the WTPart.

The import and export of assembly models between CATIA V5 and the Creo application also result in the mapping and exchange of component IDs through the Neutral data format. When you import CATProduct assemblies, the member dependencies created between the imported assemblies and their components contain the component IDs of the CATProduct source assemblies. Similarly, when you export assemblies, the member dependencies between the CATProduct assemblies and their components contain the component IDs of the source assemblies. The assemblies can contain patterns and components placed multiple times. Components IDs reside in the assembly structures and specify the order in which the components are created.
