About Importing the Configurations of Creo Elements/Direct 3D Models as Explode and Combined States
You can create configurations as part of assemblies in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling. Assembly configurations include detailed object positions, including alternate positions of assembly components. You can use configurations to visualize parts in different locations from their normal positions. This provides an alternate view of assembly models, such as exploded views of assemblies.
When you import Creo Elements/Direct 3D models, assembly configurations are transferred to Creo Parametric as the combined and exploded states. A combined state is a combination of orientation, layer, and explode states. The associative import of Creo Elements/Direct *.mi, *.bi, or *.bdl drawing files also transfers views, containing configuration details, associatively to the 3D models as explode states. The corresponding exploded state of assemblies are also transferred to Creo Parametric.
The import details of configurations in Creo Elements/Direct 3D models are as follows:
The object position information stored in the active configuration creates an exploded view of the assembly.
The camera with the active configuration imports the configuration with its orientation. The configuration name is added to the Orientation tab in Creo Parametric.
The display state of components, irrespective of their state in the configuration, converts to layer states.
A layer state captures the display state of the components in an assembly, and is saved with the model. A layer state stores the list of layers and their status.
Docuplanes, with or without assigned annotations and associated configurations, import as combined states to Creo Parametric.
Configuration details are mapped as follows:
Creo Elements/Direct
Creo
Camera or visual orientation of the model
Orientation
Component shown or not
Layer state
Explode or alternative position of a component
Explode state
Docuplanes in Creo Elements/Direct configurations map to corresponding combination states created in Creo Parametric. These combination states contain the view orientations and annotations of the corresponding docuplanes in the Creo Elements/Direct 3D models. The names of these combination states are the same as the names of the imported docuplanes, where for each imported Creo Elements/Direct Modeling docuplane that contains annotations, a layer the same name as the docuplane is created in Creo Parametric. This layer contains all the annotations of the exported docuplane.
In Creo Elements/Direct, when you Capture Camera + Drawlist and then save a configuration, that configuration now includes the visibility of components and assemblies, Show and Hide capability, the orientation, and zoom. The visibility of the model, and the Show and Hide capability of the configurations, are preserved in 3D models after import to Creo Parametric.
When you import a Creo Elements/Direct top assembly that shares the same configuration name as its sub-assemblies, Creo Parametric assigns new names to the sub-assembly layers, layer states, and exploded states.
