About Importing the Cutaway Views of Creo Elements/Direct Associative Drawings
The associative import of the Creo Elements/Direct drawings in the *.mi, *.bi, or *.bdl files to Creo Parametric includes the view of the type, cutaway. You must select the Drawing associative with model option under Views in the Import MI dialog box to import the cutaway views as associative 3D views. The cutaway views are imported as the associative local cross section views.
Cutaway views are the local sections of the general and detail views of the Creo Elements/Direct drawings and are similar to section views, except that local cross-sections are used instead of the offset cross-sections. A view can have multiple cutaways.
*
Creo Elements/Direct views with overlapping cutaways are imported as non-associative 2D views. Views with cutaways that do not overlap each other are imported as associative views. There could be some inconsistencies in the hatching when you import the overlapping cutaways because the cutaways are treated as local cross-sections.
To create cutaways with proper depth in the associated models, you must first define a region to cut and then specify the depth to cut. Creo Elements/Direct displays the sectioned or cut area of the part on the view, labeled and enclosed within the original border. The border of a cutaway view is defined in the same way as the border of a detail view. The view boundaries of the cutaway views are rectangular, circular, polygonal, or can consist of splines. The dimensions that are associative with the 3D model and are outside or within the cutaway area, and from the outside to the inside of the cutaway area, maintain their associativity with the 3D model after the import.
The associative import of a combination of cutaway views and the exploded states is not supported. When model changes impact dimensions that reference the cutaway areas, fully associative dimension updates are only supported by the part-level drawings.
Creo Elements/Direct views that include cutaways and the various Calc Mode properties are imported to Creo Parametric with the following display styles:
Views with Calc Mode-shaded are imported with the Not Hidden display style.
Views with Calc Mode Graphics + Shaded are imported with the Hidden display style.
Views with Calc Mode Classic + Shaded are imported with the Hidden display style.
