To Create a Zone Using Offset Distance from a Coordinate System
1. Retrieve an assembly.
2. Use one of the following procedures:
◦ Use the View Manager.
a. Click
. The
View Manager dialog box opens.
b. Click > > .
c. Accept the default zone name or enter a new one and press ENTER.
The Xsec dialog box opens.
3. Select
Offset CSYS from the list.
4. Create a new coordinate system or select an existing one from the graphics window or the Model Tree. The coordinate system name appears in the reference list. A three-dimensional bounding box appears, enclosing the created or selected coordinate system.
5. Specify the offset from the coordinate system by changing the distance values of the six planes making up the bounding box (X1, Y1, Z1 and X2, Y2, Z2). The graphics window updates whenever you change a value and press ENTER. The values of X1 and X2, Y1 and Y2, and Z1 and Z2 cannot be the same.
| When a bounding box expands beyond the model's outline, two bounding boxes are displayed in the graphics window: • Csys offset bounding box—Defined using coordinate system offset values. • Zone bounding box—Defined using the intersection of the model's outline and zone references. |
6. Click
to indicate whether components inside or outside the boundaries defined by the bounding box are to be included in the zone (the default is
Inside).
7. Click
to add additional references to the zone or
to remove a reference.
8. Click Preview to preview the newly created zone and click OK.
