Making an Assembly Inseparable or Making it Separate
Use the procedures below to make an assembly or subassembly inseparable, or to separate an inseparable assembly.
Making an Assembly Inseparable
1. Select the top-level assembly subassembly to make inseparable and click > > > or right-click the assembly in the Model Tree and select
Make Inseparable. The
Make Inseparable dialog box opens.
All components are selected to be embedded by default.
2. To select components to remove from the operation or uniquely embed, click Advanced. The Make Inseparable dialog box opens.
3. To not embed a component from the assembly, select Do not Embed in the Action column.

Making the Inseparable Assembly Separate
When you make an inseparable assembly separate, the models become new separate files and business objects. When models with the same names are already in session, in the current directory, or working directory, you will have to give then a new name. In a linked session, generic names are given automatically by the system.
1. Select the top-level assembly or subassembly to make separate, click > > . The Make Separable component chooser dialog box opens.
All components are selected to be extracted by default.
2. Type a new name for the component in the New File Name column, or use the File Name Generation area.
To set the File Name Generation options follow the steps below.
◦ To change text in selected original names to new text, click Use Template. Type the original text in the first box and the new text in the second box.
◦ To add a prefix to the selected names, click Use Prefix. Use the default prefix or type a new one.
◦ To add a suffix to the selected names, click Use Suffix. Use the default suffix or type a new one.
Click Generate New File Names.
3. Click OK.
