NASTRAN Mesh
Select NASTRAN input option from the Type drop-down list on the Save As dialog box to export an undeformed or a deformed surface in NASTRAN format. After you select NASTRAN input, type a name in the File name box and click Save. The Save Nastran Mesh dialog box opens. This dialog box enables you to save a deformed or an undeformed NASTRAN mesh file.
You can export only those surfaces that are displayed in the model. You can control the surface results that are exported by controlling the surfaces that are displayed in the result window. Use the Display Location tab on the Result Window Definition dialog box to select specific locations for display in your result window.
When exporting surface mesh to NASTRAN, keep the following guidelines in mind:
Creo Simulate allows you to export surface results only for 3D models.
For solid meshed geometry, only the Tetra, Wedge and Brick boundary faces falls on the displayed surfaces are used in NASTRAN file creation. The Tetra boundary faces are exported as Tria elements, the Wedge boundary faces are exported as combination of Quad and Tria elements, the Brick boundary faces are exported as Quad elements.
For shell meshed geometry the Quad and Tria shell elements in the selected geometry are exported to NASTRAN file.
In the Interface region the coincident elements and nodes are merged.
A single material and property card is exported to NASTRAN file. The default values printed under the card is 99999.
In the exported NASTRAN file the PSHELL, MAT1, CQUAD4 and CTRIA3 record have fixed small field format, whereas fixed large field format is used for GRID record.
If you want to export a finer mesh to NASTRAN than the default, then set the plotting grid higher in the analysis definition and rerun the analysis.
In FEM mode, the NASTRAN input option is available only for alternative workflow. For solid meshed geometry, only Tetra elements are supported. For shell mesh both Tria and Quad elements are supported. Parabolic elements are not supported, only linear elements are supported.
The NASTRAN input option is not available for the Dynamic Frequency, Dynamic Random and Dynamic Shock analysis types.
