What is the benefit of this enhancement?
The new options allow you to create datum planes with a preconfigured default size.
You can control the default datum size in one of the following ways:
The default size is automatically calculated to fit the model outline (as it was previously).
The default size is set to values as preconfigured in config.pro.
The default size is automatically calculated to fit the size of the display reference. By default, the display reference might be automatically set to the first placement reference (depending on the placement reference type and its placement condition).
Additional flexibility is provided through the two new behaviors of the Use display reference check box and the display reference collector. The display reference collector is typically prefilled with the first reference that is used to define the datum plane when the selected display reference is of type Vertex or Datum Point.
In this case, the display reference point or vertex determines the center of the datum plane, and you can define the size in the following two ways:
Select the Use display reference check box: In this case, the datum plane width and height dimensions are taken from the preconfigured values.
Clear the Use display reference check box: In this case, you can manually define the datum plane size by entering values into the Width and Height collectors in the Datum Plane dialog box.
These enhancements are applicable for all the design use cases that involve datum plane references.
Previously, the datum planes with large sizes cluttered the graphical model presentation, and you had to manually adjust their sizes.
This enhancement increases the design visibility and provides flexibility to optimize workflows based on your needs.
