Symbol Character Mapping during 2D Import
User Interface Location: Click File > Open.
Release: Creo Parametric 8.0.0.0
What is the benefit of this enhancement?
Symbol characters are now supported during 2D import of drawings from Creo Elements/Direct and other formats such as DXF, DWG, IGES, CGM, STEP, MEDUSA, and STHENO.
You can define the mapping of symbol characters that are external to the Creo Parametric format during import.
The Import dialog box contains the option Map Text Symbols To. Select one of the following options to map text symbols to:
ASME—Maps the imported text symbols to the ASME font.
ISO—Maps the imported text symbols to the ISO font.
Stroked ASME—Maps the imported text symbols to the stroked ASME font.
Stroked ISO—Maps the imported text symbols to the stroked ISO font.
Legacy Font—Maps the imported text symbols to the Creo Parametric legacy font.
*
This setting only applies when you import non-native drawings into new drawings in Creo Parametric.
This option has no affect when you import data into an existing drawing. In this case, the imported symbols are mapped to the font that is set by the symbol_font option for the drawing.
This behavior is controlled by the configuration option intf2d_in_symbol_font. To set the default value, click File > Options > Data Exchange and set the option Map Text Symbols To.
Previously, the symbol characters were displayed incorrectly or were missing after an import. This enhancement improves the quality of a drawing import.
