About Spot Welds
Spot welding joins two overlapping pieces of metal, typically sheet metal. To create spot welds in Creo Parametric, you use datum points that are located on a surface of solid geometry as references. You can select existing datum points or create datum points during weld creation.
You cannot use the following datum points for creating a spot weld:
Sketched datum points
Datum points created on a vertex or edge of solid geometry
To create multiple spot welds, there are two methods:
Select multiple datum points, and create one weld in multiple locations.
Create a single spot weld and use pitch functionality to create additional welds based on the first weld.
Pitch functionality creates welds along one dimension vector. To create spot welds along a second dimension, use a datum point pattern and reference the datum points.
In the Model Tree, light spot welds are represented by , and surface spot welds are represented by .
