Surfacing > Warp > Transform Operations > To Rotate Geometry
To Rotate Geometry
1. Click Editing > Warp to open the Warp tab.
2. Select the geometry to rotate.
3. Click Transform to display the transform settings and to display the transform marquee.
4. Click one of the following settings:
Center Jack to center the jack within the marquee.
Align Direction to align the jack with the direction plane
*
Depending on the selected reference, the rotation orientation changes. The rotation center is defined by the location of the jack.
5. To rotate the geometry, click and drag the handles on the ends of the jack. The marquee and the jack rotate about the rotation axis along with the selected geometry.
To rotate in 15-degree increments, hold down the SHIFT key while you rotate the geometry.
*
To snap the jack to a different rotation axis, hold down the SHIFT key while dragging the jack to the destination object. You can also snap the jack to external geometries and rotate the transformed object about an external geometry.
For finer control, click the handles on the end of the jack and click Options.
6. To change the rotation center, in the Transform box, select Jack. Click anywhere on the jack away from the end handles, and drag the jack to a new location. Alternatively, click the Options tab to specify x-, y-, and z-coordinate values for moving the jack.
7. On the Options tab, specify any of the following parameters:
Select an Active handle and a Rotation axis.
Type a value for the rotation angle in the Angle box. Optionally, click to export the parameter value to edit outside of Warp.
*
The Rotate options are displayed only if the rotation marquee is active in the graphics window.
8. Select any warp operation to complete the current warp operation or click OK to complete the warp feature.
