Stress and Strain Data for the Material Definition Dialog Box
The following table lists the type of data you must input when creating a hyperelastic or elastoplastic material using tests. Specify input stress and strain data depending on whether you mean to run a small deformation analysis (SDA) or a large deformation analysis (LDA).

True strain is also called logarithmic, natural or Hencky strain. Nominal strain is also called Cauchy, engineering or nominal engineering strain. True stress is also called Cauchy stress. In a uniaxial tension test, nominal stress is the same as the first Piola-Kirchhoff stress, or engineering stress. (In the general case, nominal stress is the transpose of first Piola-Kirchhoff stress.)
