Types of Design Variables
You can create design variables for any of the following entities:
Independent dimensions—You can create design variables using any Creo Parametric dimension, provided that dimension is not defined as the dependent member of a relation.
Independent, numeric Creo Parametric parameters—You can create design variables using any independent, numeric Creo Parametric parameter. For information on the methods you should use to create Creo Parametric parameters for use as design variables, see Creo Parametric Parameters.
You can select a Creo Parametric parameter from a list of valid parameters. The contents of the list depend on whether you are working in part or assembly mode.
For part mode, Creo Simulate displays only the Creo Parametric parameters created in part mode. For assembly mode, Creo Simulate displays only the parameters created in assembly mode. In other words, if you are working in assembly mode, you cannot access the part-level Creo Parametric parameters.
Beam sections—You can create design variables using any sketched solid or thin beam section.
