About Springs
A spring generates a translational or rotational spring force in a mechanism. It produces a linear spring force when stretched or compressed, and it produces a torsion force when rotated. This force returns the spring to a position of equilibrium, that is, the position in which it is not affected by any external force (relaxation). The magnitude of the spring force is proportional to the amount of displacement from the position of equilibrium.
You can create an extension spring along a translation axis or between two points on different rigid bodies. You can create a torsion spring along a rotation axis.

Springs tab and create a spring.
A spring created in Mechanism Design is an assembly feature. Its values are valid parameters. You can edit a spring in both Assembly and Mechanism Design. A legacy spring will not appear in the Assembly Model Tree until the model is opened in Mechanism Design.
