To Capture a Playback Result Set
1. To open the Capture dialog box, perform one of the following procedures:
◦ Click
Playback. The
Playbacks dialog box opens, click
.
◦ Right-click a playback result set in the Mechanism Tree, and click
.
The Animate dialog box opens.
2. Click Capture. The Capture dialog box opens.
3. Type a new name in the File Name box, accept the default. To change the default directory or overwrite an existing file, click Browse and select the directory or file.
4. Select a format from the Format list:
◦ If you select JPEG, TIFF, or BMP, the playback is saved as a series of frames with incremented file names (1- x).
◦ If you select MPEG or AVI, choose a frame rate (25, 30 or 50fps).
5. In the Resolution boxes, type the width and height in pixels of the output file or files.
6. Click or clear the Render Frames check box. To change render settings, click Settings. The Render Settings dialog box opens. Set one of the following options.
◦ Maximum Samples—More samples result in better quality and accurate reflections and shadows. The image gets more realistic as samples approach infinity. The default is 6, move the slider or type a number in the box to increase or decrease the number of samples.
◦ Maximum Time—Time it takes for the renderer to process the current image. It is reset when the renderer restarts for any reason such as when the camera is moved or real-time settings are changed. The default is 30 seconds. Use the arrows to increase or decrease the hours, minutes and seconds, or type a number in the appropriate box.

7. Select the Frame rate at which to record an .avi or an .mpeg file.
8. When you select .avi from the list, select the accept the default Uncompressed or configure compression:
a. Click the arrow in the Compression box and choose Select from list. The Video Compression dialog box opens.
b. Choose a Compressor from the list. Set the available options for the compressor you choose.
| • Compression settings cannot be undone once the playback has been captured. • AVI capture can fail for a variety of reasons. Make sure that all compression settings have been correctly configured or consult the relevant software. |
9. Click OK to begin recording.
