About the Axis of Revolution
Use one of the following references to define an axis of revolution for a revolved feature:
External reference—Use existing linear geometry:
Datum axis
Straight edge
Straight curve
Axis of a coordinate system
Internal centerline—Use a centerline created in Sketcher.
The centerline is automatically added to the reference collector as InternalCL.
If a sketch contains more than one centerline, the first geometry centerline created is used as the axis of revolution. If the sketch does not contain a geometry centerline, the first construction centerline created is used.
To specify the desired centerline to use as the axis of revolution, select it, and right-click and choose Designate Axis of Revolution.
Creo checks for a reference to use as the axis of revolution for a revolved feature and prioritizes its default selection in this order:
An axis of revolution that you designate
A geometry centerline in the feature sketch
A construction centerline in the feature sketch
When you define the axis of revolution:
Sketch the geometry only on one side of the axis of revolution.
The axis of revolution (a geometric reference or a centerline) must lie in the sketching plane of the section.
While defining a revolved feature, you can change the axis of revolution. For example, you can select an external axis instead of the centerline.
