To Trim Using Silhouette Edges
The Silhouette Trim command trims a quilt at the silhouette of the projection of the trimming object in a normal direction onto the quilt. You can use the silhouette command when the trimmed object is a curved quilt, and the trimming object is a datum plane or a planar surface.
1. Perform one of the following actions:
Select a curved quilt to trim, and click Model > Trim.
Click Model > Trim, click Quilt, and select a curved quilt to trim.
2. Click the Trimming object collector, and select any datum plane or planar surface to use as the trimming object.

If you select a solid planar surface as the trimming object, Silhouette Trim is unavailable. The silhouette trim method is automatically activated and cannot be deactivated.
3. Click Silhouette Trim. The silhouette of the curved surface appears.

4. To specify the side of the trimmed object to keep, click , or click the direction arrow located in the graphics window. You can keep a specific side or both sides of the trimmed object.

5. To preview the trim geometry, click .
6. Click OK.
