Commands
Type
Quilt—Trims a quilt.
Curve—Trims a curve.
Settings
Trimming object collector:
Collects a surface, curve or edge chain, or plane to trim a quilt.
Collects a point, curve, or plane to trim a curve.
—Performs one of two mutually exclusive operations:
Switches the side of the trimmed object to keep, cycling between one side, the other side, or both sides, when Thicken trim is not selected.
Selects the side to which to apply a thickness value, when Thicken trim is selected.
Silhouette Trim—Trims a quilt at the silhouette of the projection of the trimming object in a normal direction onto the quilt. Available when the trimmed object is a curved quilt, and the trimming object is planar.
Tabs
References
Trimmed quilt collector—Collects a quilt to trim.
Swap—Changes which side of the resulting quilt retains the quilt ID. Available when you keep both sides of the trimmed quilt.
Trimmed curve collector—Selects a curve to trim.
Trimming object:
Collects a surface, curve or edge chain, or plane to trim a quilt.
Collects a point, curve, or plane to trim a curve.
Details—Opens the Chain dialog box so you can modify the chain set properties.
Options—Specifies trim thickness dimensions, surfaces to exclude from thicken trim, and controlled fitting requirements for surfaces:
Keep trimming surface check box—Keeps the trimming surface.
Thicken trim check box—Trims the quilt using a thickened trimming quilt. Available when both the trimmed object and the trimming object are quilts.
Value box—Sets the thickness value.
Offset options:
Normal to Surface—Thickens the surface in a direction normal to surface.
Exclude Surface collector—Lists surfaces from the original quilt excluded from the thicken trim operation.
Auto—Automatically excludes surfaces from the thicken trim so the trim can be completed successfully.
Automatic Fit—Automatically determines the scaling coordinate system and fit along all three axes.
Controlled Fit—Thickens the surface by a specific scaling coordinate system and controlled fitting motion. Allows you to determine the offset direction.
Coordinate system—Displays a coordinate system that you use for scaling and fit.
Allow translationX, Y, and Z check boxes—Allows translation along the selected axes.
Properties
Name box—Sets a name for a feature.
—Displays detailed component information in a browser.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click the graphics window to access shortcut menu commands:
Trimmed Quilt—Activates the Trimmed quilt collector to specify the quilt to be trimmed.
Trimming Object—Activates the Trimming Object collector to specify the object used as the trimmer.
Exclude Surfaces—Activates the Exclude Surface collector to exclude selected surface from a thicken trim operation.
Clear—Clears the active collector.
Flip—Specifies the direction of the arrow to indicate the portion of the surface to keep or where to apply the thickness value.
Thin Trim—Activates the thicken options. These options are only available when trimming a quilt.
Right-click the direction arrow to access shortcut menu commands:
Flip—Redirects the direction of the arrow to indicate the side of the surface to keep after trimming.
Both Sides—Adds another arrow and keeps both sides of the trimmed surface or applies the thickness value to both sides.
