Preselecting a Sketching Plane
You can select a sketching plane before you open the tool for some sketch-based features.
When you select a datum plane or a planar surface and then open the tool, the selected planar reference is used as the default sketching plane. Therefore, when you enter Sketcher, it opens with the sketching plane defined. You can change the selected sketching plane by clicking Sketch > Sketch Setup and selecting a different plane, reference, or orientation.
*
If you select a planar reference and then select a sketch for use as a feature section, only the sketch selection is used by the feature tool.
If the orientation references cannot be automatically determined, the default global coordinate system is used to orient the sketch. If the coordinate system is suppressed or does not exist, you must specify references.
