To Create a Datum Plane and Adjust Its Display by Size
Use this procedure to set the display outline size for datum planes.
You can also preconfigure default height and width values for new datum plane display. When you set the datum_display_default option to preconfiguredsize, the default is for new datum planes to be created using width and height values to determine the outline display size. You can define the preconfigured height and width default by setting values for the datum_outline_default_height and datum_outline_default_width configuration options.
1. Click Model > Plane. The Datum Plane dialog box opens.
2. Click the References collector, and in the graphics window, select placement references for the new datum plane.
*
To add multiple references, hold down the CTRL key while you select.
3. Select the required constraint option from the constraint list in the References collector.
4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you have selected enough constraints. You might have to select additional references to make the datum fully constrained.
5. Click the Display tab to adjust the size of the outline display of the datum plane.
a. Type values in the Width and Height boxes to specify the size of the datum plane outline display.
*
The height and width values of the datum plane outline display are not displayed in the graphics window. The two-dimension outline handles are displayed at each corner of the datum plane preview. Alternatively, drag one of the handles to change the width or height of the datum plane display outline.
b. Optionally, to resize the datum plane outline, drag the handles at the corners of the datum plane outline.
c. Optionally, to use a reference as the center of the datum plane display, click the collector, and select a reference.
If datum points are used as references, then the first point you select will be used as the center of the datum plane.
If datum points are not used as references, then the center of the first reference you select will be used as the center of the datum plane.
d. Optionally, to maintain the proportion of the height and width of the outline display, select the Lock aspect ratio check box.
6. Click OK.
