About the Mirror User Interface
The Mirror tab consists of commands, tabs, and shortcut menus. Select valid feature or geometry references to mirror, and click > to open the Mirror tab.
Commands
• Mirror plane
◦ Planar collector—Displays the planar reference to mirror across. You can select a datum plane, intent datum plane, or planar surface.
• Options
◦ Reapply Mirror—When you edit the definition of a Mirror feature, replaces the existing target mirror features with new mirrored features of the source features. Not available during feature creation. Available only in Part mode. Available for redefining independent and partially dependent Mirror features.
Tabs
• References
◦ Mirror items collector—Displays the features or geometry to mirror.
◦ Mirror plane collector—Displays the planar reference to mirror across. You can select a datum plane, intent datum plane, or planar surface.
• Options
This tab is not available if you are mirroring all the geometry in the part.
◦ Dependent Copy check box—Makes the dimensions of the copied features dependent on the dimensions of the original features.
▪ Fully dependent with options to vary—Makes all elements of the copied features fully dependent on the original features, with the ability to vary the dependency of dimensions, annotation element details, parameters, sketches, and references.
▪ Partially dependent - Dimensions and AE Details only—Makes only the dimensions and annotation element details of the copied features dependent on the original features.
◦ Hide original geometry check box—Shows only the new mirrored geometry after the feature is completed, and hides the original geometry. Shown only when you mirror geometry.
• Body Options
Available when you mirror all the geometry in a part.
◦ Original bodies—Adds the mirrored solid geometry from each body to the same body that it was copied from.
◦ New bodies—Adds the mirrored solid geometry from each body to a new body.
• Properties
◦ Name box—Sets a name for a feature.
◦ —Displays detailed component information in a browser.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click a Mirror feature in the Model Tree to access shortcut menu commands.
• Mirrored features with a fully dependent mirror:
◦ > —Opens the Varied Items dialog box.
◦ > —Temporarily switches off the dependence of the selected feature or geometry on the original feature or geometry.
◦ > —Restores the dependence of the selected feature or geometry that was temporarily switched off.
◦ > —Removes the dependence of the selected feature or geometry on the original feature or geometry.
• Mirrored features with a partially dependent mirror:
◦ > —Removes the dependence of the sketch of the selected feature or geometry on the sketch of the original feature or geometry.
When the Mirror tab is open and all the geometry in a part is selected, right-click the graphics window to access shortcut menu commands:
• Mirror Items Collector—Activates the Mirror items collector so you can select a part, surface, axis, sketch, or feature to mirror.
• Mirror Plane Collector—Activates the Mirror plane collector so you can select a mirror plane.
When the Mirror tab is open, a mirror plane is selected, features to mirror are selected, and a feature is marked that it will fail to create a mirror, right-click the feature in the Mirror items collector to access shortcut menu commands:
• Fix—Opens the tool that was used to create the feature so you can edit the definition, and then returns to the Mirror tool.
| If you want to add or remove features to mirror, it is recommended that you do that first, and only then, fix the remaining failing features. |
