Topological Relationships and Regeneration
A topological parent-child relationship between two features exists when they have interacting surfaces or contours. For example, the geometry of the two features is intertwined, or their geometry bounding boxes overlap. In a topological relationship between features in Creo, the first feature created is the topology parent, and the subsequent feature or features are the topology children. The following circumstances can create topological relationships:
Intersection with another feature
Intersection with a common contour
Sharing of references
Proximity to a reference
Contribution of a logical object, such as a chain or a surface, to a reference
When a topological parent fails to regenerate for any reason, its topological children become Child of Failed features. You can view the topological parents and children of a feature in the Reference Viewer when you select System under Reference Types.
