To Create a Rotational Blend by Selecting the Sections
1. Click Model > Shapes > Rotational Blend. The Rotational Blend tab opens.
2. Click Solid to create a solid feature, or click Surface to create a surface feature.
3. To select chains to use as the first section, click Selected Sections, or select Selected sections on the Sections tab.
4. Click the Sections tab and select chains to define the first section. Optionally, click Details to open the Chain dialog box to select chains.
5. To create another section, on the Sections tab, click Insert, click Details to open the Chain dialog box, select chains, and click OK.
*
If the first section is defined using selected chains, the rest of the sections in the blend must also be selected.
All the sections must lie in planes that intersect at the same axis.
6. If required, select more sections by repeating the previous step.
7. To remove material along the blend, click Remove Material, and then perform actions depending on whether the blend is a solid or surface feature:
Solid
Optionally, click to flip the side of the sketch from which material is removed.
Surface
1. Click the Quilt collector, and then select a quilt to trim.
2. To change the portion of the quilt to be removed, click to the right of Remove Material. Switch between three modes:
Remove side 1
Remove side 2
Keep both sides
8. If you keep both sides of the quilt, to select the side that will inherit the original quilt ID, click to the right of the Quilt collector.
9. Click the Options tab and select the method for connecting the sections:
Straight—Connects the blend sections with straight lines and connects the edges of the sections with ruled surfaces, or
Smooth—Creates smooth lines and connects the edges of the sections with spline surfaces.
When you sketch the sections for a smooth rotational blend, all the section geometry must be sketched on the same side of the axis of revolution.
10. To create a closed shape in which the first section of the blend is also the last section, click the Options tab, and select the Connect end and start sections check box.
11. Click the Tangency tab, and select a tangency condition for each start and end section.
12. For solid features, click the Body Options tab, and then select the body to which to add geometry, or from which to remove geometry:
Add geometry
To add geometry to an existing body, click the body collector, and then select the body to which geometry is added.
To create the feature in a new body, select the Create new body check box. The name of the new body appears in the body collector.
Remove geometry
To cut geometry from all the bodies that the feature passes through, select All.
To cut geometry from selected bodies:
1. Select Selected.
2. Click the body collector, and then select bodies from which to cut geometry.
13. Click OK.
