To Create a Designated Area
1. Click Model > Engineering > Designated Area. The Designated Area tab opens.
2. To define the boundaries of the designated area, select a chain set of edges and curves.
3. If needed, to edit the chain set, perform any of the following actions:
To add a chain set, on the References tab, under Sets, click Add Set, and select a chain of edges and curves. You can add another chain set only when the previously created chain set is fully defined.
To delete a chain set, perform one of the following actions:
On the References tab, under Boundary chains, right-click the set to delete and select Remove.
In the graphics window, right-click the chain set and select a relevant command.
To review and edit chain set properties, on the References tab, select a chain and click Details to open the Chain dialog box.
4. To define the type of entity on which to place the designated area, under Place On, click one of the following options:
Body (default)—Places the designated area on a body.
The default body is in the Place on collector if it contains either contributing features or geometry. You cannot create a designated area on a body with a status of no contributing features or no geometry.
Quilt—Places the designated area on a quilt.
Plane—Places the designated area on a plane.
5. To select the entity on which to place the designated area, click the Place On collector, and then select a body, quilt, or plane.
6. To flip the direction of the designated area, click .
7. To change the name of the designated area, click the Properties tab and type the name in the Name box.
8. Click OK.
