Regeneration Failure and Design Configurations
Regeneration failures affect the functionality of Family Tables, Inheritance Features, and Simplified Representations.
Family Tables
When a generic model has one or more failed features, it becomes a failed model. You cannot perform the following operations:
Verify the instances in the Family Table dialog box
Preview an instance
Create or update accelerator files for an instance
You cannot create or update accelerator files for an instance when the generic model has Failed or Child of Failed features.
Inheritance Features
You cannot use a failed model as the base model for a new inheritance feature or to replace the base model of an existing inheritance feature. When one or more of the members of an inheritance feature fail to regenerate, the results are as follows:
Regeneration Result
Inheritance Feature Status
One or more failed member features
Failed
One or more child of failed member features and no failed member features
Child of Failed
One or more child-of-external-failed member features, no failed features, and no child of failed member features
Child of External Failed
Simplified Representations
You can exclude a Failed, Child of Failed, or Child of External Failed feature from an active representation. The feature becomes inactive, but the icon, font, and color of the feature name in the Model Tree are maintained.
