Cosmetic Thread Parameters
The following table lists the parameters that can be defined for a thread at its creation or later when the thread is added.
On the Thread tab, click Properties, and then in the Parameters table, click a cell to change its value.
Parameter Name
Value
Description
MAJOR_DIAMETER
Number
For standard threads, equal to BASIC_DIAM in the hole table. For internal simple threads, the thread diameter. For external simple threads, the surface diameter
MINOR_DIAMETER
Number
For standard threads, equal to TAP_DEC in the hole table. For internal simple threads, the surface diameter. For external simple threads, the thread diameter
THREAD_HEIGHT
Number
Thread height (used for conic surfaces)
THREADS_PER_INCH
Number
Threads per inch (1/pitch)
PITCH
Number
Distance between two threads
FORM
String
Thread form
CLASS
Number
Thread class
PLACEMENT
EXTERNAL/INTERNAL
Thread placement
METRIC
YES/NO
Thread is metric
Either THREADS_PER_INCH or PITCH is displayed, depending on the following logic:
If the threaded surface belongs to a standard hole, then for internal threads, the used hole table determines which parameter is displayed.
If the threaded surface does not belong to a standard hole, then the diameter is compared to the values in the hole tables. If the value matches a value included in a hole table, then the corresponding table determines which parameter is displayed. If no value is detected in the hole table, then the current unit set and the METRIC thread parameter value determine which parameter is displayed.
You can manipulate thread parameters as you can manipulate other user-defined parameters. Click Tools > Parameters to add, modify, delete, or display thread parameters.
