To Create Standard Offset Surfaces
1. Perform one of the following actions:
Select a surface, and click Model > Offset.
Click Model > Offset, and then select a surface.
The Offset tab opens with Surface offset type selected.
2. Select Standard offset.
3. To set the offset value, do any of the following:
Type an offset value in the Offset box.
Drag the handle.
Double-click the dimension in the graphics window, and enter a new dimension in the box.
An offset surface is shown in preview geometry parallel to the referenced surface.
4. To reverse the direction of the offset, do any of the following:
Click .
Drag the handle.
Right-click and choose Flip Side from the shortcut menu.
5. To select a fit type, click the Options tab, and select a type from the list:
Normal to Surface—Creates an offset in the direction normal to the surface. You can also set these options:
Automatic Fit—Offsets the surface along the axes of a coordinate system.
Controlled Fit—Scales and fits a quilt along the specified axes of a coordinate system.
6. To exclude or approximate one or more surfaces in a Normal to Surface feature, select them in the Special Handling collector and specify their handling.
7. To create the offset surface with side quilts, select the Create side surface check box.
8. To merge approximate offset surfaces with adjacent standard offset surfaces, select the Attach approximate offset surfaces check box.
9. Click OK.
