About the Split Surface Feature User Interface
The Split Surface tab consists of commands, tabs, and shortcut menus. Click Model > Editing > Split Surface to open the Split Surface tab.
Commands
Selection Method
Manual Selection—Sets the contour selection method to manual. You select contours to include in the Split Surface feature.
Auto-detect—Sets the contour selection method to automatic. All contours are selected automatically, and you can select contours to exclude from the Split Surface feature.

Surface to split collector—Displays a solid surface or quilt to split.
Contours collector
Displays contours to copy into the split surface feature when Manual Selection is selected.
Excluded contours collector—Displays contours to exclude from the feature when Auto-detect is selected.

Split Surface collector—Displays a solid surface or quilt to split.
Contours
Selected contours collector—Displays contours to copy into the split surface feature when Manual Selection is selected.
Excluded contours collector—Displays contours to exclude when Auto-detect is selected.
Options
For each selected contour separately—Creates a separate surface for each selected contour.
For all selected contours together—Creates one single surface for all the selected contours.
Properties
Name box—Sets a name for a projection.
—Displays detailed component information in a browser.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click the graphics window to access shortcut menu commands.
Split Surface—Activates the Split Surface collector.
Selected contours—Activates the Selected contours collector.
Excluded contours—Activates the Excluded contours collector.
Clear—Clears the active collector.
Manual Region Selection—Activates Manual Selection contour selection.
Automatic Region Selection—Activates Auto-detect contour selection.
