Part Modeling > Creo Flexible Modeling > Attaching Quilts > To Attach an Open Quilt to Solid Geometry
To Attach an Open Quilt to Solid Geometry
1. Click Flexible Modeling > Attach. The Attach tab opens.
2. Click the Quilt to Attach/Trim collector, and select an open quilt to attach.
3. Select an attachment option:
To add material by filling the volume defined by the quilt with solid material, select Fill with Solid, and then do the following:
1. Optionally, to trim or extend the open quilt but not attach it to the geometry, on the Options tab, select the Trim/Extend and do not attach check box.
2. Optionally, to set boundaries for the geometry other than the default, on the Options tab, select the Bounding edges collector and select edges.
3. To define the body to which the feature is added, click the Body Options tab, click the body collector, and then select the body to which geometry is added.
4. Optionally, to change the side of the quilt to which material is added, click Quilt Side.
To remove material from the inside or the outside of the quilt, select Remove Material, and then do the following:
1. Optionally, to trim or extend the open quilt but not attach it to the geometry, on the Options tab, select the Trim/Extend and do not attach check box.
2. Optionally, to set boundaries for the geometry other than the default, on the Options tab, select the Bounding edges collector and select edges.
3. To select the bodies from which geometry is removed, click the Body Options tab and select an option:
When Trim/Extend and do not attach is selected, click the body collector, and then select the body from which geometry is cut.
When Trim/Extend and do not attach is not selected, select an option:
To cut geometry from all the bodies that the feature passes through, select All.
To cut geometry from selected bodies:
1. Select Selected.
2. Click the body collector, and then select bodies from which to cut geometry.
4. Optionally, to change the side from which material is removed, click Quilt Side.
To attach the quilt to the model geometry the same way that it was attached previously by using the stored attachment information, select Reuse Attachment. This adds material by filling the volume defined by the quilt, and removes material, the same as previously. Then do the following:
1. To select the body to which geometry is added or from which geometry is removed, click the Body Options tab, and select bodies.
2. Optionally, to recreate the rounds and chamfers that attach the quilt to the model geometry in the same way that it was attached previously, on the Options tab, select the Create rounds/chamfers check box.
4. To navigate through other possible solutions for geometry configurations, on the Options tab, click Next or Previous.
*
When you click Next, the system might stop responding while it tries to find the best possible solution. This is because it checks for all possible combinations for the solution. The system might also stop responding if a solution does not exist.
At this point, to interrupt the check and continue working:
1. While the model is regenerating, click Stop at the bottom of the window to interrupt the regeneration. A failed feature is created.
2. In the Model Tree, click the failed feature and select Edit Definition. Even if you do not make any changes in the settings, this gives you the opportunity to check if the result is what you want.
3. Click OK. The feature regenerates.
When the system is unable to find more than one solution, the Previous and Next options are not available.
You can select a different solution when you redefine the Attach feature.
5. Click OK or middle-click to accept the feature.
