Part Modeling > Creo Flexible Modeling > Searching for Geometry > To Search for Geometry using the Geometry Search Tool
To Search for Geometry using the Geometry Search Tool
1. Do one of the following:
Open the Geometry Search Tool and then select reference surfaces or surface regions (action/object):
1. To open the Geometry Search Tool dialog box, click Flexible Modeling > Geometry Search.
2. To select the type of geometry to search for, next to Looking for, select an option.
For rounds or chamfers, you can select the type in the list next to Round type or Chamfer type.
When you search for rounds or chamfers, the Geometry Search Tool searches for round and chamfer surfaces that have corresponding design objects in the model. The search criteria that you specify apply to the design object, and the surfaces whose design object meets the criteria are listed under Found Geometry.
3. Select a reference surface or surface region. The References collector appears showing the selected surface. Parameters that are relevant to the reference surfaces appear under the parameters collector.
Select reference surfaces and then open the Geometry Search Tool (object/action):
1. Select one or more surfaces or surface regions to use as reference surfaces.
2. Do one of the following to open the Geometry Search Tool dialog box:
Click Flexible Modeling > Geometry Search
Right-click the graphics window and choose Geometry Search from the shortcut menu.
The geometry type of the reference geometry is selected next to Looking for, and parameters that are relevant to the reference surfaces are listed under the parameters collector.
2. To add or remove parameters, click the parameters collector. A list containing parameters relevant to the reference surfaces opens.
To add a parameter to the search, mark the check box next to the parameter.
To remove a parameter from the search, clear the check box next to the parameter.
To close the list, click the Geometry Search Tool outside the parameters collector.
3. To link a parameter to or unlink a parameter from the references surface:
Click to link the parameter to the reference surface, so that if the reference surface changes, the parameter in the search will also change.
Click to unlink the parameter from the reference surface, so that if the reference surface changes, the parameter remains the same.
4. Click Search. The geometry that meets the search criteria appears under Found Geometry, and the geometry is selected.
When you point to each item in the Found Geometry list, the item is highlighted in the graphics window.
5. To deselect any geometry item in the Found Geometry list, hold down CTRL while you click the item. Hold down CTRL and click the item again to select it again.
6. To use the results of the search:
To save the search as a .gqry file so you can open it again, click Query options > Save query to file.
To save the geometry that is selected in the Found Geometry list in the active collector of a Creo Flexible Modeling feature that is being created or edited, and close the Geometry Search Tool dialog box, click Query options > Use as query in active feature. Available when you open the Geometry Search Tool while another Creo Flexible Modeling tool is open.
To select the geometry that is selected in the Found Geometry list, and close the Geometry Search Tool dialog box, click Select.
To close the Geometry Search Tool dialog box without using the search results, click the x in the upper right corner, or press ESC on your keyboard.
