About Using an Alternate Origin in a Flexible Pattern
When you use the Use alternate origin option, the pattern is created as if the pattern leader was located at the alternate origin.

A datum point to use as the alternate origin for the pattern is created before the pattern leader.

A fill pattern is created using the circle template. The Use alternate origin check box is not selected. The concentric circles are centered on the pattern leader.

You can only select a feature to be the alternate origin if the feature was created before the pattern leader . Any of these features can be used as the alternate origin:
• Datum point
• Coordinate system
• Vertex
• End of a sketched curve
