To Set up and Run an Analysis
Prior to setting up an analysis for the mold, ensure that the material and gate locations are set.
1. Click Analysis. The Analysis Setup dialog box appears. Material information lists the material type, producer, and the grade name.
2. Enter a value for each of the following under Process condition or use the default value:
Filling time
Melt temperature
Mold temperature
Maximum injection pressure
3. If needed, click the following check boxes under Optional simulations:
Calculate maximum cooling time
Calculate sink mark
Calculate fiber orientation
4. Drag the Mesh element size slider to select mesh element size.
Coarse—Recommended for a quick filling analysis. This setting generates fewer mesh elements, which requires less computation time. The results are less accurate.
Fine—Recommended for general simulations of normal mechanical parts. This setting generates solid mesh elements with better resolution and performs the analysis with general settings.
Accuracy—Recommended for getting in-depth analysis with all parts. This setting generates more elaborate meshes and performs analysis more accurately. It requires more computation time.
5. Click Add to add multiple runs. You can set multiple runs with different gate locations, process conditions, and mesh levels for analysis.
*
Analysis is run only on the default solid body for which the gates are already defined. With the Analysis Setup dialog box active, you can change the default body in the Model Tree and add a new analysis run. Analysis cannot be created on a construction body or an empty body.
6. Select an analysis and click Activate to modify the process condition, optional simulations, and mesh element size. Click Apply to save the changes.
7. If you want to rename or add comments to an analysis, double-click the name and add details in the Edit Name dialog box. Click OK. The comments appear under the Name column.
8. Select an analysis and click Remove to remove it from the analysis.
9. Select the check box corresponding to runs for which you want to perform the analysis and click Run Analysis. The Analysis Monitor dialog box shows the analysis detail, including the process conditions, material information, model information, and the analysis log. This monitor also shows the progress percentage and the time remaining to complete the analysis.
*
You must select at least one run before clicking Run Analysis. If you modify the process conditions for the runs or recalculate the runs, the results overwrite the previous results.
Install IntelMPI on your system to perform faster analysis using parallel computing. Refer the PTC Creo Installation and Administration Guide for more information on installing IntelMPI.
