2. Select the symbol from the gallery, symbol palette, or from the disk using the Browse command. The Select Reference dialog box appears.
3. Select the placement reference from the Select Reference dialog box.
4. Right-click the symbol to select a placement type. The following placement options are available:
Automatic mode— When you select this mode and move the mouse pointer near to an entity, the entity is detected, and the leader is automatically attached to the entity. For example, if you move the mouse near to a vertex, the vertex is automatically detected, and the leader is automatically attached to the vertex.
Automatic mode placement types are Free, With Leaders, and Offset.
*
When a symbol is created with a leader by attaching to an entity, the leader is snapped normal or tangent to the entity.
Free—Places the symbol when you click in the graphics window.
Offset—Offsets the symbol from a reference.
With Leaders—Places the symbol on the selected reference with a leader. To select multiple references, press and hold the CTRL key and click an entity.
On Entity—Click a reference to place a symbol with no leader. When a reference is selected, the symbol is placed at the attachment position without a leader. In a drawing, you can use the Select Reference dialog box to define the placement of the symbol. The Select Reference dialog is not required in a model. This placement type is also possible when you use Automatic mode.
Normal to Entity—Click to place a symbol normal to the selected reference. When a reference is selected, the symbol is placed perpendicular to the selected reference.
5. Middle-click to place the symbol.
