To Assign a Material to a Body
A body has the system parameter PTC_ASSIGNED_MATERIAL. The value of this parameter is the material assigned to the body. The default value of PTC_ASSIGNED_MATERIAL is PTC_MASTER_MATERIAL. When you create a new body, it is automatically assigned the material assigned to the part.

Before you perform the following tasks, set the configuration option enable_multi_material_model to yes.
You can explicitly assign a material to a body in one of the following ways:
On the Model Tree, right-click a body and click Assign Material. Select one of the available materials.

You can also select multiple bodies from the same part and simultaneously assign a material to them.
On the Model Tree, click the PTC_ASSIGNED_MATERIAL column for a body. Click the arrow and select a material from the list.
On the Model Tree, right-click a body and click Parameters. The Parameters dialog box opens. Select the Value cell for the parameter PTC_ASSIGNED_MATERIAL, click the arrow, and select a material from the list. Click OK.
To Add a Material to a Part and Assign it to Bodies
Use the procedure below to add a material to a part and simultaneously assign it to one or more bodies:
1. On the Model Tree, select one or more bodies.
2. Right-click and click Assign Material > Other. The Materials dialog box opens.
3. In the Materials in Library list, double-click a material.
4. Click OK. The Materials dialog box closes and the selected material is assigned to the bodies.
To Remove Explicit Material Assignment of a Body
Use the procedure below to remove explicit material assignment of a body:
On the Model Tree, right-click a body and click Assign Material > Follow Master. The default material PTC_MASTER_MATERIAL is assigned to the body.
